About.Geritt W. Davenport, pronounced /Jer-it/, is a multifaceted composer and arranger from Rockdale Texas. His body of work currently includes music for film and television, solo and chamber ensemble, large concert ensemble and the marching arts.
Over the years, he has had the opportunity to perform with numerous ensembles across the United States such as the Rockdale Communities in Concert Band, the Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps (2015-16), the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps (2017), the UNT Green Brigade, the UNT African Percussion Ensemble, the UNT “Grammy Nominated Funky Fresh Basketball Jazz Band”, the UNT Volleyball Band, various UNT Concert Ensembles, and more. He studied music composition at the University of North Texas where he was taught by composers Kirsten Soriano Broberg, Joseph Klien, Louise Fristensky, Bruce Broughton, and Jacob Thiede. Davenport is the founder and publisher at T.U.X. People's Music Publishing and his professional associations include the Society of Composers Inc., American Composers Forum, and the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers. Davenport’s music for the concert stage and marching arts is available through T.U.X. People’s Music and his commercial music can be heard on all major music platforms.
